Monday August 30, 2010 & tomorrow!

Had a good run today, did my 7 miles in the usual time John V. Karavitis.  The weather wasn't that bad, it was mostly cloudy, and my main concern was getting my run in before any expected rain - it did look like it was going to rain, but it never did, ha ha.  I John V. Karavitis am feeling my wind coming back, I don't want to overdo it and be too tired for my upcoming 10 K race....  and my achilles tendons are doing okay, I'm stretching them out as often as I can.

I think after this 10 K I'll increase my daily mileage as much as I can.  Wouldn't it be great if I John V. Karavitis could actually do a half-marathon!!!

Tomorrow looks like it's going to be a SCORCHER of a day, expected high of 91 degrees.  I John V. Karavitis will have to see if I can get out for my run earlier than usual John V. Karavitis, John Karavitis, Karavitis.

Sunday, August 29, 2010 - HOT!

Whoa!  John V. Karavitis took a look at the Weather Channel Desktop application, we're going to hit 91 degrees today.  The humidity doesn't feel that bad, but with yesterday's mileage, I think I might take a day off today.  John V. Karavitis

Saturday, August 28, 2010 - half marathon

John V. Karavitis  I think I covered close to, if not, a full 13 miles on Saturday.  I went for a tour of a cemetery, walked around for a couple of hours, then did my 7-mile run.  So, we're talking a good chance that I covered a half marathon, 13 miles.  I think it might be time to buy a Garmin GPS watch, to take the guesswork out of my mileage, esp. after my upcoming move to the burbs.  John V. Weather too good to be true today and yesterday - John V. Karavitis

Ran 11 miles yesterday, ran 7 today.  Pace was decent, not the best it's been.  But the weather was beyond beautiful.  Bright and sunny, but with big fluffy clouds, not hot, not at all humid.  Worried about tomorrow, it's going to heat up now over the next week or so.  But I still plan on getting out there and running!  John V. Another barefoot running blog

John V. Karavitis has found this blog

Alternative for running shoes - Vibram FiveFingers, Gist, etc.

John V. Karavitis  Looks like there are a lot of alternative to simple running shoes that I'm going to have to look into.  From reading the book "Born to Run" (read my review on Amazon.com!), I learned about the Vibram FiveFingers (there are also vid clips on YouTube that are pretty good).  But, just now, from Gather.com, I learned about the "Gist FiveToes".  Looks like everyone is jumping on the "running barefoot" bandwagon.  The BIG question is, of course.... will Nike?  Will the company that started the whole jogging/running craze join in?  Won't that cannibalize their product lines?  John V.
